I've just come back to chess after not playing for many years. It seems as though most prefer the bullet/blitz but personally I could never get into that because chess is a thinking game. Is classic chess still relevant?
Classical chess is still relevant. However, classical chess has predominantly been played over-the-board, and that is a bit more difficult as many places have COVID-based restrictions. There are clubs and communities dedicated to slower games, however, but they are not nearly as popular as faster formats online.
Personally, I have a goal of playing longer format games to improve my chess and prepare for tournaments when more restrictions are lifted.
