The death and mortality rates are in flux. The high US rates right now are mostly due to the poor response time for the outbreak and lack of testing.

She was being really annoying, which wasn't great (though not enough to report her), but she kept insulting everyone to the point of calling them lesbians and perverts because they disagreed with her,
I think you mis-understood Al Czervik. He was being sarcastic implying that Red Girl doesn't understand much. She's like that in every thread she goes into. She HAS to argue.....its in her DNA. That, and well, she's friends with drmrboss.

Corona Virus Update
To all Players, Parents and Coaches: THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS THAT IMPACT OUR TOURNAMENT
Several parents have written to us asking about the Corona Virus threat. Here's what we've been telling them ...
On Thursday Feb 27th, Mike Hoffpauir spoke with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) about the virus. Mike did this in response to an update about the virus threat that Mike saw on the Fairfax County Public School website (www.fcps.edu). The page is updated almost every day by the school district. It provides THE OFFICIAL GUIDANCE for all schools in Fairfax County. It also the guidance we are using for the tournament.
Mike asked the Public Health Nurse at FCHD for advice for us to pass to players, parents and coaches. Here's what she recommended:
1) Follow the instructions on the Fairfax County Public School website (www.fcps.edu). When you get to the FCPS home page, scroll down and find the icon for the Virus Update.
2) If your player or someone coming with the player is sick, DO NOT BRING THAT PERSON TO THE TOURNAMENT.
Mike also asked Hand Sanitizer. The FCHD nurse said that it would be a good idea. We urge everyone to bring their own supply. The Virginia Chess Federation will have Hand Sanitizer in the Playing Hall for use by the players.
As an added precaution, INSTRUCT YOUR PLAYERS NOT TO SHAKE HANDS.

it is an individual choice so everyone should make their own decision but yeah I believe a mask helps a little against every virus (do I want to wear one? uhmm no) and washing your hands and not coughing in someones face helps too (I appreciate those people who do that anyway, not just because there is a virus in the air right now)
It's not a little more deadly it's 0.1 fot the influenza and 3% for the corona that is 30 TIMES! plus the corona is 4 times MORE CONTAGIOUS!
and the influenza wave last only 3 months max this one may last for YEARS!
Plus our immune system know the influenza since we all had it many times and we have NO VACCINE for this one!! but a number of great vaccine against the influenza PLUS the new SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus that causes the Covid-19 disease has a mutated gene that is found in HIV virus. It is this unique feature that sets it aside from the rest of the known coronaviruses.
These findings have huge implications on the potency of the coronavirus and also what it can cause in humans, not just the Covid-19 disease. Furthermore, the Covid-19 disease should never be compared to like the common cold or influenza virus as this new coronavirus is in a separate league of its own.
It's the worst virus since 1918! because all of these reasons!
