How safe is it to go to tournaments right now?

Get a flu shot and keep going to tournaments, that's my advice.  (Don't be like me and "wait a bit" for the shot, that was stupid and I paid the price.)

There is at least one case in TX but that person has been isolated.  Elderly and frail people should avoid getting it.

I used to get the flu almost every year. Then I stopped getting flu shots and since then only got it once, and even that was over 10 years ago. I know the flu shot doesn't cause the flu, but still, it's so co-incidental I think there must be something else about a flu shot that must be making some sort of difference.  Me personally, I would be a lot more worried about a plane flight to a chess tournament than the tournament itself. Once on that plane there is nothing you can do. At a chess tournament if something doesn't look right you can always walk away.

Well, I think there is a chance of catching a virus.  I don't think Coronavirus is that likely in Dallas, and Ebola threat there is nearly zero.
