Don't study just play.

Pithy but for a lot of people studying is actually enjoyable and/or rewarding. Amazingly folks get different things from the same hobby.

Of course it depends on what one considers "studying" to be exactly. A thing I've noticed about these types of discussions is that individuals seem to have a specific idea of what it means, and typically that is the image of someone reading lots of chess books and not playing much chess... but the reality is that if you spend any time thinking about what you are doing - i.e. solving tactics puzzles, reviewing your past games, spending time thinking about a move and so on - you are effectively studying.

So at the end of the day people just have different ways they prefer to "study" and each should pick the path they find the most enjoyable and/or the most practical.

True, I look to enjoy and like the game, it helps me distract the mind from my obsessive ultra  compulsive eating, so now I go to the gym, pool , then ready  to play and read about chess, as a result I forget about eating tons of pies, pizza, cola, big burguers, candies and more things I love eating. Now I only have my glass of water and ready to be in the world of chess.

I am 5.9 and weight 340 pounds, but I am on my way to be better.
