How should I study for long OTB tournaments?

Hi guys! I have a HUGE OTB tournament coming up in the next three days and I’ve never played in a tournament that will take this long! ( The time control is 1 hour and 30 minutes plus 30 seconds per move) it will last for ten days and I am kind of confused on how to study for it. Should I do lots of puzzles, warm up games, or read lots of chess books? And most importantly what should my diet be? Thanks!

I usually avoid playing a ton of speed chess the days before and try to play longer games. Try to get good sleep and make sure you know the theory of your openings.

Also, USE YOUR TIME. There is no point in being in a loosing position with a ton of time when you could have used that time to be in a better position. I have lost a significant amount of games myself because I didn’t use my time to the fullest.

"The time control is 1 hour and 30 minutes plus 30 seconds per move"
++ Then do not play any chess game with a different time control.

"it will last for ten days" ++ Then start outdoor physical exercise to boost your stamina

"how to study for it" ++ Do not study.

"lots of puzzles" ++ No.

"warm up games" ++ Yes, but only 90|30, e.g. against a strong engine

"read lots of chess books?" ++ No.

"what should my diet be?" ++ Read this

Play a few games with the same time control you'll face in the tournament (90 minutes + 30 seconds increment). This will help you get used to managing your time effectively. Focus on playing solidly, avoiding blunders and thinking deeply about each move.
