How to avoid a draw game bc of repeating moves...

Can y'all look at my game against [No naming and shaming - Mod] and tell me how to avoid the three move repeat draw.

I know It was a poor game on my part, but I managed to come back, and was in winning position until this [Watch the language and be respectful - Mod.] kept checking me. I tried avoiding the same move multiple times but it still gave me a draw. Pretty upset about losing like that. Does anyone else think that's a pathetic way to play a match...?

Also, why is that a rule in a time controlled match. He should of lost on time or lost by checkmate. That rule doesn't make sense to me.

This is what happens when you get greedy.  You were a rook up and worried to much about the e7 pawn.  When you have a winning postion, you just need to win the game, and not try to promote more pawns.  At move 53 you should have played 53.Qa5+ Kb8 54.e7 Qd4 55.Qc3

When the king is in a corner like that, here's a sort of shortcut. There are usually just two "lines" to attack the king. One of them from the side and one from a diagonal. If you can cover both, you can't be checked.

So for example, in your game 54.Qf6 and your king is immune. You're also threatening his pawns which he can't defend and at the same time stop your pawn from queening.

You could have also grabbed a pawn with 54.Qa5+

3-fold repetition as a draw is a rule in all official tournament chess games, and also on all websites that I know of. Here are two basic drawing mechanisms:

That was very funny (#3) Just laughting can't help it.

Often i go to livechess or to twitch chess and watch low rated players ... it's pretty hilarious. And sometimes you can learn thing or two - usually what not to do.  And to players walls/prifle.. this one someone said he plays like a girl ha-ha-ha-ha xD (but probably not truth, but still funny)

Anyway not bad game, but the end man.. the end.. lol. Practice winning positions vs computer and try to finish the job. They already said, don't get thaaat greedy for that pawn.

You know is like from cartoons... A cat (Tom)  is holding 30 plates and barely holds them without dropping everything.. but then he want to catch single plate because it will fall and brake , he saves it, but drops everything.. haha.

You might also have played 54.  qxa5+  kb8  55.  qc8+  ka7   56.  e8=q.  It takes a little thought after this, but you had plenty of time.

How did I not see Qxa5+ !

Shame! Lol thanks fellas

I second AIM-AceMove's advice.  Whenever your opponent resigns, finish the position against a computer.  Practicing endgames will prove useful in the long run.

of course in the 1st diagram, 1 .. Qd1# might be better ;-)

33. Qd7 is checkmate

As mikeler says, at 33. Qxg8+, you could have gone 33. Qd7#.

As others have said, you spent a bit too much effort trying to promote a pawn when you already had a decisive edge. You could and should have just traded off queens when you had the chance.

Mistakes happen though. I've found myself in a situation of perpetual checks due to a blunder (usually with a cornered Queen) where I otherwise was winning. It's very frustrating but as long as we learn from these mistakes then it can only stand us in good stead going forward :)
