Play long time control games and think about each and every move. Also do lots of tactics training right now. Notice combinations and having a bit more positional awareness will help a lot

You need to be born with the talent to play at that level. If you have it, great, lucky you. If not, then I've got some bad news for you: You won't be playing at that high level.

Depends on what you mean by high level. When I was playing in the 12-1300 brackets 1500 and up was high level.

At 1700 blitz and 1900 rapid, I'm struggling to figure out how to improve to 2000 - that being said, I don't believe it is only talent. I believe you can learn through hard work and study. Super GM on the other hand.......yeah prodigy level.

Well 1500 isn't exactly a rating to write home about honestly. But high level would be the GM level, so 2500+. And you only get there through having an immense amount of talent and hard work. If you don't have the talent but work hard, you're really only looking at 2000-ish maybe.

1500 may not be something to write home about to you, but there are a lot of players that really look up to that rating and strive to be there and would be considered advanced. 1500 to someone stuck in 700 IS definitely advanced.

Study, Study, Study! Start with Chess Fundamentals by Capablanca. Study Winning Chess series by GM Seirawan. Analyze your own games without chess engines. That's enough to get you to 2000 after 2 years.

BigChessplayer665

Analyze without engines study openings you like and grind that's how I got to 2000

If your stuck at 700 I really recommend finding a 1400-1600 you can repeatedly play against normally or though odds you need to play good players in order to improve

Just play long games and think about every move and have more positional awareness.

And practice 1 to 2 hours a day and don’t chat or get distracted

tactics is everything under 1700, most low rated games will be decided by who found the tactics first to win the game. it's all about having the pattern recognition and calculation to find it during the critical moments of the game. you just need to grind a ton of puzzles nonstop until you can subconsciously find the mate in 2s, forks, pins, tactics to gain material etc. tyler1 is a great example of this, he reached 1700~ after only a couple months of playing chess by the sheer amount of puzzle grinding he does.

most likely, you won't be needing to learn much deeper positional concepts until ur about that range. the basic principles is already enough as a basis for your positional understanding.

Analyze without engines...

Very good advice!

The point is that we don't really care if some engine says we should have made THIS move instead of THAT move. We'll probably never see that specific position again, anyway. What we really care about is learning how to THINK about a chess position; learning which factors are important in what type of position, learning which "warning signs" we should be paying attention to... and no engine can tell you those things. You have to work it out for yourself.

If you like, I can play Daily games with you. You have to analyze the game yourself as I have other things to do.

700 rating is statistically about average for chess rating, but if you want to become a more advanced chess player, then just like most things in life, it takes learning, study and experience.

RideZen2

Play a medium to hard CPU with takebacks. 🙂♟️

Blunder check before you move. That little mental discipline alone is enough to reach 1500.

I agree
Thechessplayer202020

Is 1500 good?

Thechessplayer202020

For a 2 year player?

play4fun64

Yes, 1500 is very good rating after playing 2 years . The player must analyze his games without chess engines and study tactics, opening principles, basic endgame and middle game.

Thechessplayer202020

Im probably gonna stay stuck in the 1500s for a while haha
