people at higher levels play the bowdler attack knowing its not great but they just dont prepare for the sicilian and play it like this:

what do you all recommend to counteract these annoying early Bc4 setups? white can easily not allow e5 or b5

Its a comfortable game to start and your problem bishop becomes a monster when Closed Sicilians/Grand Prix/Bowdlers/Kramnik play on auto-pilot.
