How to crush the London System

I'm wondering about the London system and how to defeat it easy. I play a variation of the indian which i supposed to be the best combatant to the london but I don't really feel like it is. Any suggestions?

Many thanks! wink.png

The london is a normal and sound opening that can't be beat ("crush") by just "learning" some opening. Instead, you beat the london by playing better chess, just like you would with most openings that don't instantly lose.

If you don't enjoy playing against the london, I would recommend you experiment with different openings and see what you enjoy doing. Yes, it takes time, but everything does, and for some reason it's always the London system where people don't want to do so. It took me four years to find a response I enjoyed playing against the London; in the meantime, I simply tried playing good moves. It's not like you're losing out of the opening or anything, hell, you can play almost anything against the london and still be fine.

London system is overrated. Black easily equalize in any setup.

It’s not an opening that you can defeat „easy“. It just doesn’t work like that. And why on earth does anyone want to win easily in the first place? Chess is a struggle, a fight. And noticeably at all.

exactly, it's confusing...

-> plays sound opening

-> how can I beat this opening easily?

like what?

This is the effect of popular streamers and their clickbaits.

I bet GothamChess has a video "The EASY way to CRUSH the London System!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I like to play a modest d6. This makes Bf4 look a bit out of place and white can never get a piece to e5. London players find it a very frustrating move.

Carlsen - Ding

London System - King's Indian Defense

The game is drawn, but I looked at it with Stockfish and was impressed by the potential.

Good Title Crush the London system??? Sadly NO INDIVIDUAL OPENING SYSTEM FOR BLACK IS ABLE TO CRUSH THE LONDON SYSTEM, Unless your opponents do not fully understand what they are doing, if they do then 🤔 you have a hard battle ahead!!!

Crush the London system player's psychology by refusing the system with ...1c5. The Old Benoni is a good opening and demands an immediate response that brainless system players will surely bungle.

If you're after youtube videos, this one has a good suggestion against the London.

Not that I need it, of course...

to be honest, the easiest way to crush the london system is to be about 400 points higher rated than your opponent. Of course, you can also easily crush the sicilian, the caro kann, the ruy lopez...

400 is Overkill. 200 above crush the London.

I don't believe 200 points is enough to consistently crush anyone

250 is way stronger

I tend to as black following setup 1.D4,Nf6 2.Nf3,D5 3.Bf4,C6 4.E3,E6 5.NC3,BD6 and swap off whites favourite piece, the treasured Bishop on F4, yes its quiet and tame looking but I find black has a solid position and I win more than I lose using this line!
