How to deal with boring players

I won't hide my dissappointment but lately I have been meeting awfully crappy players. I like to play online chess with 30 minutes time interval.

   Though lately I've been meeting opponents who seem to sleep (play no moves) for most of the match & start playing after an awful long time. It is mostly wste of time for the opponent.

   I would requet you to share your views on how to del with these time wasters without losing points?

I don't know if some people really do this "wasting" on purpose or not (observing human life would suggest that, statistically, some do) but my opinion would be that if you sign up to play a 30 minutes game, you have to be prepared to sit at the board for an hour. If your opponent chooses to spend the majority of their own time doing nothing, then it is you who will benefit ultimately.

It might be boring but if you want faster play, use faster time controls. There isn't really anyway to "force" someone to play the way you want them to.

I almost got a heart attack when I saw that avatar.

my opinion is to chat with them and if they don't chat abort the game.

This is the main reason I (and many other online players) don't play long games online.

I play almost all blitz here. Not because I don't like long games - I LOVE long games. But it's simply too common to go into a 30' game per side, get up an exchange or two pawns so the otherside is losing but still has chances, and then they just time out or make one move at the longest time possible just to try and bore you out of the win.

Thanks for the suggestions.

@mercury2411: Anyone would love to play a 1hr action packed chess game & I love that myself. But I've started this topic for players who make it a habit to waste time & don't make any moves. It seems to be a strategy on their part.

@Pulpofeira @shine5: Hope my avatar didn't haunt you in sleep. ;) (LOL!)

@nichster: These guys don't respond.

@hhnngg1 : That is the only option. Though I don't like shorter duration games as they are mostly based on pre determined strategies & I believe not very fruitful for people learning chess. Please note that is my personal view.

It is easier to be unpleasant to people online than it is in person.  It's because they don't register emotionally as much.  That is why people do things like this and can be so rude on message boards.

I get annoyed by people using computers, which is utterly pointless imho.

joyntjezebel

I mean using a computer program to play the game for them.

if you don't wanna play with these guys then play with me!
