If u take more time to think of moves then don’t play 10 min games

Well this is what I thought too but if it's a skill that can be learned then why not work on it?

I've been playing a handful of 10-min games to challenge myself. Normally I take a long time to make a move, considering all possible angles and consequences of making a move. I realised that 10 min games doesn't really allow for 'deep thinking' time unless you're okay with losing on time limit. I've noticed that the less I resign and just go with the flow of a game, the more chance I have of a) fluking a win or b) learning something about it that helps in the next game.

What are your tips for the 10 min games? Do you have a set of go-to moves to achieve checkmate or just go with the flow and hope for the best?

It's not easy to play 10-minute games, considering that time needs to be taken when playing moves. Some possible things you can do include the following (not all will agree with me though).

I love everything about this response, thanks so much! I appreciate that you took the time to respond with a methodical list of things I could work on.

- complicating a position

- simplifying it

deeper you go, you get a better chance to win a material or an advantageous position. but for every depth you will need more memory, skill and time.

in fast games you usually wouldn't want to close the game too much, therefore you keep it open and simple. but by doing so it gets harder to get a upperhand..

so you need to rely on simple 'tactics' to gain advantage. do puzzles.. see more tactical positions.. become faster at recognizing those patterns and execute them as soon as you get to see them.

And it will also be useful in your classic games.. especially in your middlegame stages.

10 min is not a proper time for a chess game ,it's ridiculous ,but people aleady have some level can play 10 min just for fun,15+10 is a better time control for beginner to develop some real skill
