I think Esteban has the most practical solution with the best odds. Give it a go.
Also, the girl I mentioned above actually wanted me to teach her chess, which is different. I think part of the OP's situation is convincing the girl (who, luckily for him, is already his girlfriend) to want to play chess.

Agreed. I've never had a problem finding opponents. I also remember reading on here a guy complaining about being made fun of for losing to a girl. So the opposite problem.
You can always just find a girlfriend that plays chess. Try hitting on women at your next tournament!
Please do not encourage guys to do that.

Ya invite her over to play chess, make sure to remove all the chairs from your room too.
Then quickly go out and buy one of those shot glass chess sets (I think I'm obsessed with them... I really need one). Hide all of your regular sets when she comes over and claim it's the only one you coud find. Then you playfully/jokingly ask if you should use the set as it was intended... See what happens from there...
I did teach her chess, along with a friend of hers. But meh, life went on and not much happened.

You're missing out blarg, building the perfect deck is the funnest part! Except for the hundreds (or in my case thousands) of dollars part. I can't blame ya for not wanting to do that but I'm super competitive and play in tournaments and I despise losing so I go all out lol.
