Yeah i think i was trying to focus on defense and missed it.

Before every move stop and look. Take your time. Can you capture anything? Can your opponent capture anything? If you make the move that you're thinking of can your opponent capture anything?

Which is exactly why playing speed-chess isn't great for beginners to learn -- because you're absolutely right.

How do you counter your opponent copying everything you do move for move?

Miniongolf

play e4 e5 nf3 nc3 nxe5 nxe4 qe2

You can use fried liver attack, ive found that works quite well with newer players as they dont know how to counter very aggressive playstyles

Away with you and your faulty advice!

The tale of the annoying player who wouldn't resign

Strangemover

Better for you that they don't resign because you need to learn how to give checkmate - your method of converting this into a win was extremely inefficient and time consuming.

Yeah i need to study my endgames. This would have been like 50% shorder if i didnt blunder my queen. My error was i wanted to deliver back rank checkmate. But i put my queen out before by rook. I didnt account for when my queen was captured by the knight the king would then have a path to escape.

LeeEuler

my two cents is to work backwards from the endgame. Practice the Q and K vs. K mate. When you master that practice the RR K v. K. Then RK v. K. Pawn v. K etc.

Other than that as others have mentioned, every move look at what your opponent is threatening. This will drastically cut down on the obvious material blunders.

Good luck with your chess!

OP, NEVER resign at your level. I repeat, NEVER. Let your opponent prove their win. Likewise, proving your wins in positions where you are clearly winning will serve you well in terms of higher ratings.
