Always consider multiple "candidate moves" instead of jumping to the first option. Practice visualizing positions several moves ahead without moving pieces on the board.

I reached candidate master title without any “candidate moves” nonsense. These are empty words invented by some garbage author to look interessting. The same garbage as “corresponding squares”.
