How to improve in pawn structures ?

Hello Chesslovers,

when it comes to build up pawn structures I am awfully weak. Therefore I seek possibilities and hints on how to improve strategies in this area.

Any suggestions in general ? Are there good books out there ? Training options ? Videos ?

Some general points to follow unless you have clear or distinct reasons not to follow them:

1. Don't double pawns

2. Don't take "away" from the center

3. If pawns are "backward" on semi-open files, try and trade them off, they tend to be weak and easily picked on by rooks.

Understanding Pawn Play by Marovic is a good book on this subject.
