How to improve your blitz strength?

Hello chessfriends!

I want to ask you, if you can tell me, how I can improve my blitz strength. I do a lot of tactics (on chesstempo and chess emralds), but is there anything else?

I am becoming better and better in OTB chess, but in online blitz my rating on playchess.com is only around 1550. -.- embarassing...

In real chess I played in my last two tournaments a performance over 2000, just in online blitz i don´t improve :(

I´m looking forward to any suggestions

Not sure why you'd want to improve blitz strength.  Ultimately blitz is another way of practicing tactics and looking for holes in your opening prep for 'Real' chess...

If you really want to improve blitz in particular, rework your opening systems a bit.... the deeper and more complex the opening the more errors you'll have available to exploit.  Endgame study is important for all areas of chess, but perhaps more important in blitz because winning won games (and drawing drawn) is a lot tougher in time pressure.

Those are probably the #1 and #2 keys to a higher blitz rating.

I don´t know why but in the last three days my blitz skills are much better than before. Now I am by 1850 on playchess.com. :)

Seems, if I only worried to much or so. But thank you for your tips!

Chessimo software is very effective for improving your blitz strength unlike other straining softwares. It's because the interface is fast and you are timed.
