Caffiene pills are nasty for you.  You might as well start doing speed if you're going to ingest powder.  Coffee is probably the best source for caffiene out there.  All natural :)

Nothing wrong with coffee.  But, far more expensive and some people don't like it......and once again you  simply are not educated if you equate caffeine pills to speed(especially if you decide to drink coffee).  Coffee has all the same POSSIBLE side effects as caffeine pills

But, hey if you want to spend an extra 500 dollars a year cause its "natural" then more power to you

My concentration has improved greatly after having given up on caffeine.

I used to get headaches around 1pm from not caffeinating myself first thing in the morning. I dont anymore.

My brain functions much better "au naturel"...without chemical enhancers.

Once in a while I'll have a coffee in the morning because I need to JOLT myself awake after a bad night's sleep. But when I get a good night's sleep, I find that I don't need coffee. And my brain wakes up bright and clear to the morning sun.

Giving up coffee would be bad for me. The only exercise I get is walking the two kilometers to Tim Horton's every day.

It is interesting that you are good at blitz!

Why is that?

Do you use other openings? Other ideas? Maybe care less about moves?

My advice is to look at these blitz games (or blitz games here at chess.com) and see what worked for you, so you discover new interesting chess ideas you can try to implement in longer games.

Having more ideas = having more fun thinking about cunning plans in longer games.

Good luck!

Thats different.

Driving on a motorway is like playing the book-line both black and white know to tie. Should be automatic.

However, if black makes a weird move, white should concentrate and get into a better position into a won endgame easily played out.

Well, I'd say walking 2 kilometers a day is lot more than what a lot of people do for themselves these days  - that is wake,  up hop on an elevator from appartment to the car, sit in car, hop on elevator to office, sit in front of computer, then elevator, then car, then couch in front of TV, then do it all over again the next day...So good for you.

Nicotine, caffeine, alcohol --  these substances  - one day, my body said to me ENOUGH...and I listened. I went through a thorough cleansing of the body of these addictive substances.

But you and I are not on the same life cycles, nor are we genetically wired exactly the same way.

Anyway, there are worse things too be dependent on than caffeine.

You had headaches because you were addicted and used in excess.  Any idiot knows if you take too much of ANYTHING it isn't good for you

I never suggested that you should take 4 caffeine pills a day.  I believe I actually suggested that you cycle the caffeine.

I am a firm believer in adding structure to your thoughts on each move regardless of the complexity makes a major impact. This makes sure each move is directional or responsive to the situation.

I have written more in-depth on this topic at the link below

What on earth are you talking about?

Many ADULTS who drink coffee on a regular basis - daily all their lives - get headaches when they skip it for a day.... ( and I'm talking about REAL coffee, not the dishwasher brown water chock full of cream and sugar people drink in the U.S. )

And good grief.  Lay off with the "I suggest you should" (do this or do that)....blah blah blah..."I know what's best" attitude - it's annoying.

You get that coffee has caffeine in it right-eg they get headaches when they don't have it because they are having withdrawals...

Btw YOU are the one suggesting what is best.  Never did I say ANYONE had to  do anything.  I suggested that "you"(anyone looking to improve concentration) should think about cycling caffeine for performance.  You suggested that everyone should get rid of caffeine, drugs etc from their diet.

That's the equivalent of telling someone, you know what happens when you lose the key to your car, right - eg, you can't get into your car.

Your level of brilliance just blows me away...yawn

The only time I gave advice was to the 17 y.o. OP who was asking for it - about how to improve his concentration.

All my other posts was about relating MY OWN EXPERIENCE with caffeine and the negative effects it had on me.

Don't emotionally project onto others your own internal workings.

Looks like you're sold on the magical powers of caffeine as promoted in "peer reviews"...  good for you, swallow it in pill form, drink it, cycle it...do whatever it is you do...yawn   , I never suggested to you otherwise

Okay I am going to break this down for you in chunks.  I explained to you why you got headaches from not drinking your coffee.  You were addicted to caffeine and got withdrawals when you didn't have it.

U mention that people get headaches from not drinking a cup of coffee for 1 day(implicating that they drink coffee every day.  Other implication is you seem to think it has nothing to do with caffeine withdrawals.)

If you understood what withdrawals were then why would you mention

Many ADULTS who drink coffee on a regular basis - daily all their lives - get headaches when they skip it for a day.... ( and I'm talking about REAL coffee, not the dishwasher brown water chock full of cream and sugar people drink in the U.S. ).

and why would you get offended when I explained that you were having withdrawals and hence overusing caffeine.

Euh, thanks for the step-by-step breakdown on how you "connected the dots" and came to your conclusions...only problem is, you're connected presumed imaginary dots....

No conlusions.  Facts.  I work in a factual world.  You can live in your neuroglial world.  Talk like you do and no need to mention you are no scientist lol..

Let me break it  down "dot-by-dot" for you, since subtlety of intelligence seem to escape you.

Seeing that I did mention in a previous post that I got off caffeine, nicotine and alcohol => you should have REALIZED *correctly* that I was once a drinker, smoker and caffeine addict. Instead you PRESUME *erroneously * things with "your imaginary dots connecting".

Telling a former drinker smoker and caffeine addict such as myself that I don't know what withdrawal is amounts to telling a policeman "Didn't you know guns can kill?".
