There should be basic vids on this site or lessons that teach you the rules
you can read a book, google it, take a course, watch a video, or play against a friend.

On the new chess.com, go to the top tab bar that says play, learn, share, and forums.
go to the learn tab, and click where it says "rules" at the very bottom
