I'm failing to find the answer to this question in the online help or by searching this forum. My apologies of course if the information is here, and pointers welcome.

How to post diagram (via FEN or PGN) in a forum post and NOT have the engine analysis toggle button?

I am creating a forum thread within a club relating to an ongoing tournament. The tournament is an unrated endgame tournament in the Endgame Lovers group, and I don't mind if the diagram is interactive so that people can play with it, but I really seriously don't want the engine analysis toggle button!

Given a choice of a static diagram and having to have engine analysis, I would settle for the former. With engine analysis there it's too easy for someone playing in the tournament to inadvertently start the engine analysis, and the tournament while unrated is "no engines, no tablebases" as is usual for daily games.

Thanks for any assistance!

Mmm thanks ... I can also grab the image and post that, athough it might not look quite as sharp. I know I put in a bug report when engine analysis (very briefly!) appeared with vote chess analysis boards ... here I'd like a toggle in the Theme section best.

I'll wait a little in case anyone else has an idea before firing off enhancement requests (mm, "suggestions") or grabbing imagines and posting them.

Thanks again, @invoid.

The answer from chess.com was to use an image, or the FEN. Or obviously both. I've asked that the feature be implemented (it's already there for vote chess; we only need to be able to get at it when we set the diagram up).

Anyway: Create diagram via FEN, post, OS X "Grab" to take a selection (I left the button and share icons out) convert to .png from .tiff and edit the post to replace the diagram with the image.

Windows has a "snip" (is that the name?) tool that is similar to OS X "Grab" for choosing a window or a selection.

Cheers all,

The decision to include engine analysis as the default, has created a headache for many of us. I've long preferred to carry out analysis of my VC games in the Game Editor but with the introduction of V3, you can no longer import the game's FEN string directly, because it generates a warning.

Another problem has been for one of the guys in a group I admin to post puzzles. As you say, the engine analysis is included whether you want it or not. He's had to resort to posting bare images to get round that problem.

I post, grab the image and edit the post. It's a usable workaround (at least on my machine the image looks OK, but it won't scale like the real thing will).

As the feature was disabled for vote chess diagrams (after I reported a bug) I had hoped that my feature request for a toggle in the "Theme" section (or similar ... not fussy about the method) would be implemented but I've heard nothing more.

Of course, V2's still limping along so I imagine my request is low priority. I've noted at least one slow page in V3 has been converted to pagination so people are doing things and I hope still to (one day) see some ability to disable the unwanted button!
