How to prevent blunders
Psychology does play a big role in chess, I think everyone can agree
During his match vs Spassky he wanted to boycott the match because of cameras in the hall. As a player who said he does not believe in psychology, I would expect more of him. Fischer was certain a camera was secretly recording him during play and used 35 minutes of his time to have it checked out. He thought the Russians were using gold teeth also as recording devices...
I find myself more relaxed when I am losing than when I have a winning position or I see a way to win something concrete
By the way, what Fischer was reporting were paranoid delusions. It's a symptom of a psychotic disorder and may be the reason Fischer retired from actively defending his title. He likely did not want to take older generation anti-psychotic medications, if he was diagnosed and it was suggested, because they affected cognitive functioning.
Nice video. I know I have been guilty of simply swapping pieces when I am a piece up and squandering an advantage.
Hopefully I will help you. Thank you for watching.
