I was expecting this thread would be about how badly you should crush your chess student.
Me too.

I'm thinking some people are taking you seriously (and are like 'wtf') ... and most aren't!
I'm with those that aren't...
perhaps you can become the "Meanest chess coach.. Ever!!" but first to create a truly ominous vibe- you need a mean Chess rating that intimidates us all. like 2789. either way; Keep on trolling!
I totally agree!!! Especially if they are children. Punishing a student only made them hate chess, who wants to hear disparaging comments about their chess abilities or skills, it doesn't work. Encouragement works better than harsh criticism.

lol That won't work, they lose more games without their beloved teddy bear.
Because your full of shit no matter what thread your in.
Don't know what it is like to own a student, do you?

You don't OWN a Student they are their own person you nut.
Were you people ever punished growing up? If you were, you would have different opinion about it and certainly more mature.
"Don't know what it is like to own a student, do you"? OH, that's right I forgot. Your in jail.
So that student would be "your Beech"?
Of course I was punished, even phisically, when I was a kid at school, as it was usual in my time. Maybe is because of that I'd smash the head of any chess teacher who would do the same to my children.
If my student's keep making the same mistakes over and over again, some form of punishment would be warranted.
My question is, what type of punishment is the best?
Instead of punishing, how about rewarding the student for each game in which he or she doesn't make that same mistake?
Tell him about the poor children in China who are starving to play chess.
