Hello, chess.com!
I'm a 24 y.o beginner, who started playing chess in December 2020, which is approximately 2-3 months.
So I recently tried to complete an ELO rating test by a guy named Henrich Heine. My rating was somewhere between 1450-1500. Honestly I wasn't able to calculate most of the puzzles I saw in the test, but also I felt very confident solving the other part.
So there are my question:
1) Considering I want to become a solid chess player (obviously it's too late to dream about getting titles, but you never know where life takes you), what are your advices on improving my general understanding and strategic aspects of my game?
2) What books, courses should i read/take to get more confident (apart from actually playing chess)?
3) How high should I set expectations for myself? (as mentioned earlier I'm not setting crazy goals of becoming IM or GM)
4) And at last, how good can I get if I can devote 1 to 3 hours to studying chess material?
I'll appreciate every single recommendation.
Getting an appropriate rating should be your first concern. It looks like you are off to a good start.
The lessons here are a good place to start learning.
