play up and play solid so you can’t lose. I lost like 1 game in 15 or so recently OTB

I am technically not 1800+ USCF but I think I am that strength so take my tips with a grain of salt.

Don't focus on winning, and don't focus on the losses or draws you should have won. It's easier said then done I know, but if you focus on simply playing well you will do better. When on tilt don't worry about the rating. When you are training and getting better the rating will come with time and patience. In every tournament think of each game as a "training" game this allows you to be more focused about the games at hand and playing well. not about the tournament or the rating gain. I hope this is helpful!

it's kind of hard to play up in tournaments where the only section you can play in is the highest under section

Just keep playing. Everyone has bad periods. If you think there's a clear problem, or it keeps going down, maybe try to fix that by looking at how you practice

I was able to recover 56 out of 58 points I lost in June. I realized I was out of practice, and worked hard to get my calculation up to par before my next event. Also, take it one game at a time, don't worry about bad pairings or your opponent's ratings, and just play the best moves! happy.png

no you’re going up so much while I’m tilting so much

im 1935 uscf and i think best strategy to gain rating is to either always play up (for u like open or u2200) or you can move to California and get the rating here

Yea I’m trying to play up now thx
