Hello everybody this is Aarav-2012.
I'm here to discuss about "how to regain our puzzle rating after this new puzzle rating system". If you don't know what I'm talking about you can visit my other forrum "Why my chess puzzle rating dropped a lot out of no where?" By clicking on my name or searching it on chess.com.
As we know after this update the plus after every puzzle solved is in between 1-4 and the minus after loosing is between 20-35 which makes gaining back puzzle rating extremely hard especially for people without premium subscription who have just three puzzle per day. Some techniques I am using rn are :
- When I'm solving the puzzle I take my time I no more do it like before without thinking try to understand the goal of the puzzle then solve it, puzzles with multiple moves even though you identified what is required to finish the puzzle after every move rethink what to do further bcs if you missed something or if there is another way which is better to complete the puzzle and you found it you won't lose puzzle rating.
- second method: "On balance, I think the new puzzles rating is a fairer reflection of your actual ability.I've changed my settings difficulty to "Hard" so that if/when I do get one wrong, my rating doesn't plummet like a stone. On the new standard difficulty setting, you only get 3 or 4 pts for a correct solution but you lose like 16-18 for getting one wrong. So a couple of wrong solutions and you need to solve like 15-20 in a row just to get back to where you were. Now that I've changed the difficulty settings to "hard" I'm actually enjoying it more now because when you get one wrong, you only drop about 8pts or so" This is a method proposed by (JohnB2023) in my other forrum.
- Some people said instead of setting difficulty to hard set it to extremely hard bcs puzzle in extremely hard are pretty easy than it seems and the puzzle drop after loss is not much.
I believe that the best method is the second option but you test the three methods one by one and use the one which you find the most effective.
