It's not a "free" service. It's a service granted to those who register in return for either viewing ads or paying for an upgrade. By blocking the ads you are breaking your side of the agreement.
Whether it matters practically or not really depends on how Chess.com collects revenue (by merely presenting the ads on the site or by click-through count). If they receive the revenue merely for showing the ads, they probably don't care if you block them - but that definitely doesn't make it okay to do so.

Chess.com doesn't ban you for adblocker.
The funny thing is my school has blocked ads and stuff so it says remove ads but it doesn't have ads, even if I played on my pc I have an adblocker that I would use on here, I use my adblocker everywhere but on youtube.com since you can be banned there.
If they want to make the game paid then that's their thing, I am going to use adblocker if I have to bc I don't want ads not for my age.
