Is there some way to teach kids some simple chess ideas? I have been teaching my daughter rook roller, but she still get confused, she is almost 6. Is it just not possible at to learn some concepts at that age? Or are there some training methods that will work?

She does know how all the pieces moves and castle.

With a blitz rating of under 600 and standard rating under 1100, I would not classify you as a genius. A troll is what I would classify you as.

I have seen very bright third graders struggle with these elementary checkmates and have seen four year olds grasp it easily. Each child is different.

Have you tried David McNulty's monster chess? http://www.kidchess.com/monsterchess/index.html

It helps very young players learn how to plan a few moves ahead.
