Hello everyone.  2 yrs back, I was an e4 player. But, whenever someone used the Sicilian against me, I used to lose my games... so I switched to d4.... but I wanna explore different openings coz I cant keep playing d4 always.. so if u guys know any tricks or any repertoire against the sicilian.. do let me know... thanks in advance!! happy.png

Have a look at a lot of master games (annotated or eg commented on youtube) and then you should get an idea. There of course is no secret how to win every time (against any reasonable opening).

Checkmate the opponent's king. That usually works for most guys. grin.png

You might want to look into anti-Sicilians, basically anything except the Open Sicilian lines. The Closed Sicilian is reasonably popular, and the Alapin is perfectly playable. A fascinating try is the Kopec System, characterized by the odd looking Bd3. The idea is to turn the Sicilian into more of a Ruy Lopez type structure.

Jancotianno

Grand prix attack is also a good anti sicilian to try out.

It depends on the Sicilian line you're talking about. For example, the Maróczy Bind tends to be the best response to the accelerated dragon(which is what I play) and the Yugoslav attack tends to be good in the regular dragon.

I like the Grand Pric Attack, e4 c5 Nc3 d6 f4

Try be2 system they are favorite on Karpov and are more positional and easier to learn.

Play 2 c4 and turn the opening into a Symmetrical English. Refer to the Botvinnik System in the English for more details.

You don't need to learn "tricks" against a particular opening, you need to study chess: middlegame and endgame strategy and lots of tactics. As long as you follow opening principles and get a playable position out of the opening, that's all you need at this point. Don't waste your time on the wrong things.

Just stack up pressure against the d-file if they're not playing the dragon.  If they play the accelerated dragon play an early Nxc6 and they're out of book and there are a few traps you can use.  If they play the regular dragon play f4 and go for the simple trap line.

Works for me about 25% of the time against 2200+ players, and if they don't fall for it it's even anyway

The simple answer: U can win against the Sicilian only if your opponent makes a mistake. peshka.png
