When you play against rated players in rated tournaments, The rating of all those players gets added up and the average is taken
EX: Tournament 1
round 1 = 1500 rated player
round 2 = 1250 rated player
round 3 = 1600 rated player
average = 1450
Now after the average is taken, the amount of points you got from playing the rated players are counted
EX:
Tournament 1
round 1 = you play against a 1500 rated player and you get a win
round 2 = you play against a 1250 rated player and lose
round 3 = you play against a 1600 rated player and lose
So here you have got 1/3 points playing against rated players
then the average = 1450
after that you divide the amount of points you have got by the amount of games you have played (against rated players)
so here when you divide the amount of points you have got by the amount of games you have played (against rated players) the answer is 0.3 recurring
here in this table p = you divide the amount of points you have got by the amount of games you have played (against rated players)
so in the example i have given p= 0.33
when you find 0.33 under p, next to it the dp is -125
now you have to minus the dp (which is -125) from the average opponent rating, which in the example I have taken is 1450
so then 1450-125= 1325
1325 is the rating that you will get
But when you minus the dp from the average opponent rating if the final answer is below 1000 you do not get the rating
Hope you understand this
Do they keep your rating and the data in your file even if you don't qualify? (If your first tournament resulted in an 800 unpublished rating, do you start over from scratch next time?)
