Huge Rating Loss

On my main account Dabs2,  every 100 elo until 2200 blitz and 2200 rapid, I would struggle and struggle and struggle through every elo. What I would find is that once you make the major drop, just take a break for a day or two. Then, you need to evaluate WHY you are losing those games. Is it time? Blunders? Carelessness? Then you should start playing again and you are surely to gain back those points.

Study endgames, endgames only, for a month. Then come back to blitz and test where you're

Funny you should say that. I am currently studying "Essential Chess Endings: The Tournament Player's Guide" by James Howell. It's very good.

I recently lost 269 blitz rating points. I'm struggling to win any games. I scored 3 points out of my last 22 games. Partly I feel like I'm playing in a fog, partly it feels like my opponents are playing much better than their rating. Each day, I feel fresher and feel like I'm going to gain my rating back, but I only go lower. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Should I take a break from chess? I know blitz and ratings aren't important, but I also want to fix my thinking/game. Any recommendations?

You're not the only one that this happens to so don't stress too much about it. I've also gone on losing streaks and yea it can be demoralizing but just know that as you get better at chess you're never just going to have a perfect upwards trajectory, there's going to be ups and downs.

One thing that helped me which other people have already mentioned was to stop playing if I am losing too many games in a row. You don't want to play when you're tilted plus look at the bright side your rapid rating is still pretty good

Thanks. I'm sure I was playing while tilted.

Thanks! Good advice.

When I have a bad stretch, especially in Rapid games, I usually take a day or two off. Some book work (I've been slowly going through Afek's Practical Chess Beauty and de la Villa 100 Endgames) and tactics usually clear the fog.
Otherwise, tilting is a serious risk.

Once you start clicking again in blitz those poor 1700s are going to be playing someone that is actually 2000 strength lol
