Humanity in chess

He offered me draw in this because of my mouseslip. A rare act of kindness changed my mind towards the game thinking that maybe winning is not everything. We should always be kind and down to earth towards the game

that is why chess can never be a sport..imagine offering a draw in a football match when an opposing team's player losses balance and falls down and loses possession on the ball

Real nice gesture. I don't think it has to do with humanity though wink.png. Kindness and understanding for sure.

The proper response was to decline the draw and resign.

Umm then it may look like i am disrepcting him?

It doesn't matter.  He shouldn't have offered a draw anyway. A mouseslip's akin to the touch rule. Either one plays by the rules or one doesn't, but it's proper to play by the rules.
Either one plays by the spirit of the game or one doesn't.  The spirit of the game doesn't allow for a draw in a won game for no compelling reason.

But, of course, you get to chose which way you want to play the game.

Maybe he just wanted to win the game in the right way we all know that's winning game with touched move does not have the same respect

He wanted to win the right way by drawing the wrong way?
