I am confused by FIDE algebriac notation rules

I thought when promoting to queen you put like g8=Q or something but FIDE rules say "In the case of the promotion of a pawn, the actual pawn move is indicated, followed immediately by the abbreviation of the new piece. Examples: d8Q, exf8N, b1B, g1R."

Did anyone know this have I just never known algebraic notation? Other people who play OTB do you write the = or not?

Have always written = and read the same elsewhere but looks like fide says otherwise. Good find
