I am much better at chess on chess.com than I am at over the board chess.

I am definitely a better chess player online than over the board, though that doesn't bother me, I usually play against friends or family.

Hi Maxwell, I had a look at some of your 15 min games. I´d say you play most moves well above your present Live rating, but your games are interspersed with occasional horrific blunders or oversights - if you can cut those out, you´ll be winning a lot more games. You should definitely take more time to look at your opponent´s last move to make sure that you don´t miss anything. Here´s a good example of a game which you won:

over the board chess is the real testing ground of your abilities join a chess club be an active team member do not rush moves as you generally have at least an hour to reach 30 moves there will be no programmes no databases no books just you your foe and the board and as happens to all chess players when you lose get the stronger players in the club to analyse your game after you get into the swing of things online chess becomes a pastime and you really mean buisness when otb i promise that your otb rating will be higher after a bit than your online rating

"Moving your rook to the open file and preparing to double up is a good idea, but again, you missed a free pawn, this time on c6."

20. Rxb5 isn't bad, either.

chess_can_be_fun

Those actually appear to be Syrian Hamsters. They are the rodents of choice for discerning chess players.

Put two Syrian Hamsters in a cage together and they may start a civil war!

Yes. Syrian Hamsters must be kept separate. Learning the secrets of the hamster will help one's ELO rating significantly.

Don´t worry, it happens to most of us. It just happened to me in a 30 min game. Spot the move which I missed as White, which would basically have ensured I won the game (after my missed chance it went on for another 50 moves and was drawn):

Black´s just taken my Bishop on d3; Qxb7 is obvious and is what I had planned; it should have lost me the game instantly, but my opponent luckily didn´t see ...Rb1. So what did I miss?

Just goes to show, I should have taken my own advice and looked at the whole board before moving.

Maybe you spend more time playing in chess.com compare to OTB? There is a big difference between playing out there and playing in the computer.
