I am very disappointed in chess.com

I was reported for supposedly being rude to someone in chat during a game. Which is sort of strange since I not only do not chat during games, but have chat muted in settings. Chess.com sent me a rude and aggressive warning and even saying something about complaints from several opponents. I only made my account 2 days ago. No in-game chatting. Zero. I Googled this only to find it is a very common problem on chess.com and some people have had their accounts muted, based on false allegations of a sore loser. Seems like anybody can say anything and not even have to provide screenshots as proof. Very sad place. I'm out.

People are not muted just because someone reports them. Reports are reviewed by moderators or staff and mutings are only issued after the review. Moderators can't close accounts but can make recommendations to staff for a closure.

I think it is likely that you received the warning after a moderator reviewed some of your forum posts, which I have seen being reported and I can see are somewhat controversial. Many people do not appreciate sarcasm or satire.

Yes, this is an automated message and it is probably because of your forum posts. I've seen some of them….

I think you are late in chess.com by 7 or 8 years. Before, chess.com social side was more enjoyable

The photo in your profile is inappropriate and suggesting it is your daughter is even more so. This site is open to all ages.

Honestly I am not suprised, there is always lichess, scram.

Sending such an aggressive warning to a potentially innocent player is just insane.

Come to think of it, chess.com does that all the time. Their "thank you" message (after they did something based on your report) also sounds like a threat rather than a "thank you".

"I have very beautiful and available daughter for marriage to American man only. Her name Valeria. She make the good asins desa, Latvian blood Savage, and although potatoes. If you need wife we can work out cheap deal. Here is her selfie portrait…" bro, that is crazy and innapropriate, why is she in a bathtub?

Mid-KnightRider

too bad it was just a warning ...

Real

We are at a time in history where even remaining silent is offensive.

#11, yes, advertising your daughter for marriage with a photo of her in a bathtub is silence. For real.

lol

That was the weirdest thing I have seen this year.

Chess147

yep, on the weirdness scale for chess.com that's in the 90% range.

Mid-KnightRider

i think that might go even higher, which says a LOT. Advertising yoru daughter in a bathtub for marriage "We can work out a cheap deal" Seriously bro, get lost.

Chess147

I think it's safe to say it's all fake which makes me wonder what else is fake.

Mid-KnightRider

He should get banned, there is a lot of conspiracy behind the scenes that he could be one of the worst trolls in site history ressurected on another account.

Mid-KnightRider

yeah, I reported him several times.

No he is my favorite singer, what instrument did you play?
