Hi, I am 19 years old, I play exactly for 2 years, I don`t study chess, just memoring openings, solving tactics, watch 1 min games. In long chess my playing strength and rating is 1400 fide, when I play long I am idealess, don`t know what to do, while in 1-min chess everything is automatic and I have some draws and victories versus IMs, on time wins of course but one IM said "You got some strong moves." On the site that I play most IMs have 2500 in 1 min, I have 2100. So, the question: Does it mean anything?

It means you aren't in college earning a degree and making something of yourself contributing to society like the lying politicians, greedy bankers and biased journalists in the media.

I think you are angry because you didn`t (boop) your mother today. I can do it for you.

Bets are on- which is first to go, thread or account?

Edit: Narrow escape, I guess.

That's hard to say, if it is talent, it should be nutured into a skill. Though I can't say there will be any bullet tournaments in the foreseable future. So i'd say it's up to you.

The faster the game is, the less obvious the differences in playing strength become. It isn't that uncommon for low-rated players to beat high-rated players in bullet.

My rating hovers between 1200 - 1400  in bullet and blitz, and I've beaten some 1800/1900s in these fast games. Was close to beat 2000s a few times. Pretty sure I'd have a more positive score against high-rated players if Chess.com seek system didn't make it so goddam difficult to find matches with them.

I set my seek parameters for opponents with a rating range between -10 and +300 of mine and leave it there, even if it takes up more than a minute to find a match sometimes.

Dont confuse bullet with chess.  I dont put a lot of merit into a chess game where you can be 9 pieces down and "win" by .1 seconds.

You should learn from olivia-neutronbomb. She got talent by picking such an amazing nickname. You got what it takes when u can neutronbomb your opponent! :)

Bullet is just so you know when to exchange. To exchange or not to exchange, that is the question.

well, this got hot.. fast.

nevertheless, the op's issues- its still Not a half bad question.  I tend to think that good bullet players are fast and deserve credit to see tactics, hanging peices and any kind of coherant plans in milliseconds...

but I think you can't call it a great and thoughtful mastery of chess.

I think of basketball when I think of bullet chess.  one team throws then another then another- he who sinks the ball enough wins.  there's skill to get the ball thrown towards the net, in the rush - but its no exploration in in perfect technique.   there's also a fair amount of randomness in it, as well.  everythings so fast, surely even at IM level, there's a bit of luck involved in what is seen and what is not.

ok. tl;dr. I know, I know.  back to the troll post.

I think it's not talent. It's like making one shot out of 100 3 point tries. Just because you make 2 shots out of 30 tries in 3 point shot(basketball) does not make you a 3 point shooter.

And as someone told, it's common to see titled players lose at bullet against low rated opponent.

The only way to can determine if you really have talent, is by studying all the aspects of chess and you rating increases at good level.
