Since you're a diamond member, I'd say: use the features you paid for. Especially Chess Mentor and Tactics Trainer (and Computer Analysis). Those have help improve my game greatly, and I don't even have full access to Chess Mentor nor any videos. I'm sure you can improve faster than me if you use the resources you have regularly and focus and play slow in your online games.

Congratulations! Always good to see a fellow Canadian doing well. I was very excited when I broke 1800 myself. 

Detention - Breaking 1700 is easier in correspondece. Since you are already 1550 Blitz and 1600 Standard, it should be easy for you. Just focus more on your correspondence games and the results should come. I used Opening Explorer to sharpen my openings. TT should help tactically.
