Also in this post you basically say chess is a waste of time. Not the type of person I would want coaching me.

I was old when I started out on chess.com in November 2020. Not a master at the time and my worst game was a 5+ accuracy game.

My life is rough, I’ve been held down most of my life (Born in December 1983), when I started my first account I was in a world of pain and agony, symbolically speaking.

At my age you’re not reaching for the stars ✨ You have to be realistic.

That said, I improved from then until today, there’s progress. By the time I turn 50 in the year 2033 I will be 1280-1480 in rapid estimation factoring in life and 1380-1580 in Daily both Worst-case scenario.

You are young, have energy? I did at your age in abundance. Think in the long run, factor in life.

Find your openings and learn all about them, for me I simplified it to d4/d6.

Play solid, no rush, work on your slight adjustments, rinse and repeat. You want your opponent on your home turf not the other way around because it’s a known position and you already know the best moves.

Everyone who punishes your play should be a blessing for you, that’s how you grow stronger.

If chess is more of a grind than love, you’ll get nowhere. If you’re in a rush for a title you might not even get it.

Biblical scripture shaped my mind from childhood. I see games differently than others. I think in the long run. Self control, focus and willingness to learn will be your foundation.

Dont aim for the stars ✨ be realistic. GM’s and other various titled players are self taught.

If your primary focus is you being stuck, then you will stagnate and get nowhere. Play chess when you have the energy to do so, work on your slight adjustments, learn from your opponents and those who have valid advice to give. If your heart is in the chess.. time will prove its worth.

If you are knee deep into chess out of love for the game rather than staring at that GM title, you might speed up your journey to a Norm.

The progress will come in due time. If I at my age have progress, then you at your age and energy will too.

Wish you the best on your journey.
