As great as videos might be, at the end of the day, if you hang all ur pieces, openings are not saving you. ¯\(°_o)/¯ Just don't hang ur pieces and do puzzles vro 🙂
I am 73 years old. I quit chess in my 30's because I couldn't break the 1400 barrier no matter how hard I tried.
I have missed the game every day for almost 40 years because I simply could not get over my failure to rise above that level. So about 3 months ago, something like that, I decided to give it another shot. Now, I am finding it impossible to break 800. And you know what? thats ok. I have discovered the secret is to admire my opponents when they beat me. not because I blundered, but because the outmaneuvered and outthought me. Just to fight the struggle and be shown defeat by brilliance is a high I never allowed myself when I was younger. Now I find that instead of being burnt out, both losing and winning give me joy. The only thing I detest is when I blunder, making a move so obviously stupid that I realize that the game was lost by impatience, and my failure to sit back and examine the board completely. Once it's framed that way, the obvious solution is to always sit on my hands before making even the most obvious countermove.
I do not want to lecture you, but to describe my very real and painful experience. Give up chess for a week or two. Maybe a month. But always mark the date on your calendar when you can return. Think about it at least once every day. Don't give in to temptation and play chess during your chess vacation. I wouldn't even do puzzles or read chess books during that time. Just that thought when you get to play again. every day.
I suspect after your vacation, you will be deliriously happy to be able to play again, win or lose. Because the truth is, like me, you have already given your heart to this marvelous, evil, frustrating, and completely unreasonable game. There isn't a substitute. Well, maybe bridge, but I digress.
If you don’t like chess, don’t play chess. If you like chess, you can never ever thought about quitting chess even for a millionth of second.
looked at the last few losses. too many pieces are being given away for free and randomly. You can read all the books you want, but at the end of the day, if ur blind to hanging pieces then ur studying the wrong material which is not suitable for your levelds
Hi pls review my loses too, I have a bad loses as well
I was your rating in 2020.
I didn’t care about ELO I just played chess, watching YouTube videos on openings did push me in the right direction.
many titled players are self taught, they just played and learned on their own. After 6 years online I’m around 1500, my rating dropped a bit to 1400+ but I’m experimenting so it’s okay.
I think I can call myself intermediate player now and I wasn’t 100% active past 6 years. If you are too focused on your rating instead of your games then yeah no progress.
Magnus Carlsen said it simply put, if you want to be good in chess you must love playing the game. Your progress will improve in due time. Remember, I was your rating in 2020, my worst game had 5+ accuracy. Don’t worry about your rating, play chess because you want to.
