I feel scared before I try Tactics Trainer ?

Is this natural ? I mean they're really hard & I wanna get them right.

Your questions, comments, concerns ?....Help !

Especially when I reach a "goal" point. 

Like when I hit 1600 and then again 1700. I kinda wanna take my doll & go home (u know what I mean).

you should try never to be scared at anything (regarding chess).  there's always somebody quite a lot worse...

If I get it, good. If not, I have a good reason to curse wildly. Is a win-win to me.

Never! I have a reputation to care for.

I mean, I feel kinda devastated if I miss like 3 or 4 in a row and it wrecks my rating.

Or worse, I get the answer right and I get a (-) score........what's up with that ?....So I took like 3 minutes. Whatever .

I agree it can be annoying, but since rating is a measure for the type of challenge you must face next, it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it could be a good idea to try many puzzles on another site or a book for a few months, and then try again here?

Well I never feel scared. Although I tend to have on and off days with Tactics trainer. One day its like I do all tactics perfectly. The other day If I fail in one I get annoyed and due to this get many wrong! you get it?

I remember being close to 1600. Like 1590. I kept getting beaten down and buspathed. Finally I broke thru & went out for a Mai Tai. I was so happy ! The next day I started back in & ended up like 1580 after (5) goes and I felt so....well, so mad-frustrated....

Same thing happened at 1700. And then some of the same puzzles resurfaced. I get those but then I feel guilty. Minus the pleasure....awwwww !

Admit that you feel less bad, when you get the puzzle right, you loose a few points because of the time criterium then when you 'd loose 9 or 8 pts because of moving too fast and getting it wrong because of that. When I take a look at the stats and see nothing but green instead of red it's fine for me. That rating is just a relative number. If chess wouldn't be so difficult and yes, maybe a little bit scary sometimes, it wouldn't be half as attractive.

Before I do my daily 5 tactic puzzles, I go to the toilet, make me a cup of coffee and roll me 2 cigarettes so that I'm at ease and can fully concentrate on finding the solution. When I'm having a hangover, I wait 'till I feel clearer.

Try doing the puzzles in the nude. It helps to calm the nerves.
