my friend is a 1000 but has 2000 puzzle rating is that sus?
It’s only suspicious when they have a 2000 ELO and a 1000 puzzle rating haha.
My personal opinion is puzzles are of practical value only if you can maintain a 60% accuracy rating and speedily.
I know guys that have high puzzle ratings but they take forever to accurately figure it out and only gain 1-3 points for the solution. I don’t see the practicality in a live game situation with time controls if it takes you 15 minutes to figure the puzzle.
Lately I've tried to take more time doing them - I try to study the puzzle instead of just doing them. The purpose is to improve and learn new patterns. Also, puzzles after 2300 or so can be quite tricky especially if someone is new to them, so it can take some time. I think it's better to spend the time and figure them out and learn from it.
Most people won't have a 60% or higher accuracy because when you do.. your rating will increase and the puzzles you get will become much harder over time.
