Even the French admit, reluctantly, that English won the battle to be dominant speech. Having the IOC talk French must be embarrassing, tbh, given their corruption. And people in Africa talk French or English... according to who stole their... FIFA, FIDE, FIA motorsport were set up by France too, but English has to be used for business. When somebody talk French on Forum maybe five percent will understand... When somebody talk English... Most will understand?! Don't get me wrong... French can be lovely, but English remains dominant.

Does it really matter? France, the UK, and the US have been allies since the beginning of the 20th century.
Not to mention that both are very popular languages, since they were the 2 most powerful countries in the 1700's.
Together, in the 1700's they controlled pretty much all of africa, and UK colonies controlled India, were setup into the US and Canada, and they held parts of China.
