Y R U ashamed? He's an idiot, trying to act cool and make people stop kicking his app, and you called him and idiot that's trying to make people stop kicking his app. What's wrong with that? I don't understand

Karpov, Petrosian, Capa etc. could put together brilliant attacks as well... they just took a patient approach. Declaring great champions to be grinding emotionless bores... a little unfair? And Nehzathingyzov didn't even win the Soviet champs. Stereotypical.

Petrosian only attacked when it was a forced mate. Not when it would give him a huge advantage. I never said Karpov and Capa can't attack. Capa is an endgame master, Karpov is a defensive player, but can still play aggressively when necessary. Petrosian just put up a defense like iron, earning him the Nickname Iron Tigran, bur never played aggressively.

Nobody's an idiot here and everyone's entitled to their opinion without being verbally attacked.
Pretty much there's been a conflation of ideas: videos promulgating quick wins through tricks, gambits and traps -as well as some misinformation such as most gambits being unsound.
I would agree with @Richard_Hunter about videos and books trying to get hits or get sold by seeming to have some magic formulae. Gambits, however, while being mostly open games containing a lot of tactical pitfalls, aren't quick win openings thanks to tricks, but rather an opportunity to use time vs material, the ultimate imbalance. Most people study traps for several reasons: 1. to recognized them when the opportunity presents itself, 2. to avoid becoming a victim of one and 3. to improve or hold together a position with the threat of employing one. Knowing traps and "playing for traps" are two different things.

tru. I just get pretty heated sometimes. Sorry

Where does all of this rage come from? He comes in here like a fire and brimstone preacher cursing the demon rum. What the actual hell?! Who knows, really, but when bombarded with reasoned arguments, he doubles down on the invectives.
You know what? People on YouTube use clickbaity titles. So what else is new. Even if he conflated traps and gambits, this excuses little. He should’ve apologized for slandering people who use gambits and perhaps focused on traps. Even so, should we hide all of this forbidden knowledge from the children to keep them safe? Ridiculous.

Actually, if you read a bit about him, Pertrosian's early style was very attacking. You learn a lot about good defensive techniques if you start out that way,
