I Give Away Pieces...

Most of my games end because I simply move a piece to a square that's under attack and I don't notice. It's usually just a long bishop/queen move, but sometimes it's something as simple as a knight. This may be a silly question, but is there any trick to stop this...? I have been playing for almost 2 years and I still make mistakes as simple and basic as this.

I even realize that sometimes I simply focus on one part of the board and forget about the rest, but this realization doesn't make me aware. I still do it. My opponents almost never do this.

how long do you wait to make a move? if you continue to have this problem play 60 min time control and take 1 min or 10 to make a single move. this is a game of thinking.i have noticed over the last month, that after i stoped playing fast chess and took 5 min to 15 a move i actully started winning. half the time you take should be used to see why the other player moved his peice. what is he doing. it sounds silly but dont play youre side of the board play the other players. then make moves that stop those plans dead in there tracks. find a combo of these things iv said that work for you. but sounds like you dont look at the other players moves. and seriusly dont be affraid to run out of time. play a good game where you dont make a bad move even if it meens you lose on time. at least you know you did everything right and you can learn from that and you will get faster because you know what to do.
