Can we replace the pawns with bombs?
I have an idea for a new chess variant, and would like everyone's thoughts on it

I've just messaged solskytz and copied this link to him with the request that he get in touch with you. (He's a busy guy, a father, a very successful concert pianist with a huge musical output, and a 2200+ chess player). I looked for an hour and couldn't find the link where he posted his ingenious idea.

You may be a nice kid and all, but here's my advice. You just joined today. You've played NO games, and you start a new thread. Take your coat off, stay a while, play a little, and see if there are similar veriants at chess variants.com.

@sarcastasaur: here's a bit of unsolicited advice when someone gives you unsolicited advice, and especially when they've come onto your thread, not to respond to your request but to implicity criticize what you're doing...just ignore them. It may be difficult, but it will repay you many times over.
at RJC: many people join here and get lots of enjoyment from the threads. Not everyone is here to play games. Chess enjoyment takes many forms.
This variant would be like a stratego-chess combo, in which you start with all the same pieces, except you can put them anywhere on the first two rows you like. And your opponent won't be able to see what your pieces are, only you can, and vice versa. The challenge is that in order to be successful, you must keep track of your opponent's moves with which pieces, so you will be able to decipher which pieces are which, kill them, and ultimately take out the king.
I think this would add a lot of variety to chess matches especially at the higher levels where it is commonly a pattern of memorizing a specific plan.
Thoughts?
