I have been cured of this site

As a paying member, I have never cheated on this site yet constently I have been cheated.  I have had my connection corrupted, my chess softare hacked and corrupted, my chess databases hacked and corrupted.  I do nor believe this could have been done without eiter the cooperatin of the system administration or its gross neglegence.  Either way I am finally done.  I feel they took my money and gave me nothing of value in return.  Before I was a paying member I cheated. I won 44 connsecutive games doing so.  Why? Because this site offers no protection from non-paying cheats.  Yet they choose to cheat me as honest paying members with reckless dishonsest abandon.  As long as they force paying members to play non-paying cheats, I pity any one foolish enough to give them money, unless of coure they are a paying cheat being protected by the site.  Then I pity them even more, for they have lost any sense of honor if they evey had an to begin with, in which case I pity them all the more yet still.  The ratings on this site sere only as a measure of that players ability and willigness to cheat and speaks to no way to there ability t play chess.

Evidence?

TheUltimateBook

notmtwain, what would you consider evidence?

B-Lamberth

Why do you blame the site that people cheat when you have done it yourself? I pay and feel I get a lot for my money. I have never cheated and I have never had the feeling that I was playing a cheater. I have no evidence to back it up, but I think the number of cheaters is very low especially among higher rated players. It is tempting to blame anyone who beats you in chess as a cheater, but it is absolutely not my impression that cheating is widespread.

Sounds like karma to me. What comes around goes around. I agree that a cheater can hardly speak of honor.

slide_checkmate

Can you be a bit more specific? You say you had your connection 'corrupted'... What do you mean exactly?

VLaurenT

@OP : I understand your anger at cheaters, but cheating yourself can not be the right answer to this painful problem.

IpswichMatt

In what way were your chess databases corrupted? What databases are these ?

Kinghal

What a load of unsubstantiated garbage.  I've been a member for over 4 years and have played thousands of games.  Apart from those annoying twerps who go missing or just let the clock run down when in a lost position, I've never had the suspicion of cheating.  Is the site the poorer when someone who confesses to having cheated in 44 games says he is cured of the site?  I think not.

Ronnee

There are definitely CHEATS on this site...everybody knows that. However they are cheating themselvesas they CANNOT win without doing so. Having that in mind...the reason I joined was because I enjoy chess and the SITE needs financial support to be run efficiently. If we do not become members there is no other similar site except Caissas web and Gameknot ( which is owned by them anyhow ) Both these sites do not have " instant play" for live games . Here on chess, com there are over 12000 players. I have proof of cheating and have complained to chess.com about it an dposted in forums numerously BUT I now play with intelligence trying to outsmart my opponent . I FEEL GOOD  when my manouvres outsmart his moves. ...no matter what tricks some use  eg...to delay clock....disconnect at a crucial moment ...put sound on and off in stealth ...or ftreeze my screen and stop clock .   THEY are the FRIGHTENED ONES who can ONLY WIN using unethical tactics. Lighten up and brush up yr game and keep joining us in chess play   SPOT ON Surprised

DrCheckevertim

You feel cheated by the site, and hate cheaters... so you cheat against other players.

That doesn't make much sense. Undecided

DrFrank124c

Maybe you feel cheated because you have cheated and are projecting your dishonest tendencies onto others. I've been playing on this site for years and while I have had my suspicions concerning some others I think that most players do not cheat since we come here to improve our chess and progress  can only be made by playing an honest game and following the rules. I used to be a paying member but my financial situation forces me to cut back on expenses. Otherwise I would still be paying since this site does give me a chance to play good games with good players. The connection is not always perfect but this is the internet and just like old time radio and tv we do get static from time to time.

What about crickets invading your home, and tap water turning into blood ?

As a free site I think this one is pretty good. I would give it 9/10.

"Chessanytime" is also a good free site and many of the players are  very strong from what I have seen.

If you do not want to pay I think this site offers a great deal.  Frankly I would not pay because chess is just a little game and I would derive little benefit from a pay account as so many others here seem to think also.  There are numerous other resources on the net you can access to help you if you look.

You cannot stop cheaters on any chess site so there is no point in bitching about it.  It is dead easy to copy the moves from any chess computer program on the net or on your computer if you want to cheat.  It is a pointless exercise and a waste of time but I have also experienced this from other players first hand.  Chess.com have a good program to detect cheaters and then ban them if they continue but I expect they have to concentrate this on players at the higher levels and I am a low level player.  The banned list is very long.

DrFrank: Well said.

Well said, indeed, and yes, kaynight, what a load of crap! My ranking may not be very high, but it's honest. If you have to cheat to win, you're not really winning. The nerve of this guy to complain about something he did himself.

BishopTARDIS

if you cheated you have no right to complain.

Melanie-420

kaynight, some folks obviously don't have a brain to engage! (And when I said 'what a load of crap' I meant you were right by saying that! Just read my comment and realized it may have sounded like I was remarking about what you said.)

Cool! Just wanted to make sure not to offend the wrong person. I don't care if offend the OP.
