Just a hour ago I was playing a game against a 1110 from Indonesia. I decided to listen to some classical music as I heard it improved focus. During the game, I managed to trap his queen, forcing my opponent to sacrifice the bishop to check my king and open up a escape square for the queen. So I took the bishop and the queen moved away. Since I was up a piece, I traded the queens and a rook. In the endgame, we both had passed pawns. My opponent put his rook on the A1 square, preparing to escort his pawn. So I put my rook on the A8 square, adding pressure to the pawn. Then my opponent moved the Knight away. I noticed that my bishop can now attack the rook, as the knight was guarding the square where I could attack the rook. So I attacked it and realized that the rook was now trapped. So he had to sacrifice the ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK! For the bishop. After that, I attacked the knight and was going for another trade. There was a Knight guarding the square where I put my bishop. So my opponent took my bishop. Then I saw that the knight that took my bishop was guarding the other knight. My rook was attacking the knight so I took the knight with check, after the king moved, I took the other knight. And my opponent resigns. In game review, I had a 93.6 Accuracy and Played like a 1750. So I suggest you listen to music while you play.

Maybe it is specifically classical music. I have listened to mixed genres during games with mixed results.

I listen to solo piano classical music quite often when playing. Lots available on YouTube. Find the Goldberg Variations (technically baroque, not classical).
