I'm confused by today's puzzle...
The Queen can capture the rook, but the puzzle finished because it would be obvious that it would take that. Then then the white queen would capture and it would win a queen for a rook.
A player can capture a piece giving them check, and in the daily puzzle, that is the only legal move for Black.
The point of the puzzle is that after Black takes the rook, White takes the queen, and is then up a queen against a rook, which is a win for White.
Here's the puzzle, btw: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/daily-puzzles/8-30-2016-winning-clean
this post will get confusing tomorrow, because people might think your talking about tommorows puzzle
Because after Queen takes white recaptures and is ahead a lot of material. Being ahead this much material means white's position is winning.
Comment on the puzzle. If you just really felt the need to make your own post, then at least post it in the "Daily Chess Puzzles" category.
@TRextastic He said he was new. Don't go hating on peoples posts just because your having a bad day. Make you post more welcoming.
Sorry, @TRextastic. I thought that's where I was posting it. I did so in the iOS app. I'll delete this post so it doesn't confuse anyone (if that's possible).

It's no problem. Sorry if I came off rude or condescending, I'm just a blunt typer. Also, just my personal advice, I find it most helpful to study the puzzles without outside help. There are so many times where I think, "why wouldn't you just do that?" or "that doesn't make sense." But if I give it enough thought and time, I can figure out for myself why that doesn't work (ie it's usually yet another pinned piece I am blind to). I just think having to figure it out for yourself is the greatest teacher. Welcome to chess and chess.com. Just you wait, you'll be addicted soon enough ![]()
