My detailed stats have a half too.
I think the 'half' move comes from when you make a draw- I have only one drawn game, and this is in my profile:

The sum of the white and black moves should equal the total, no?
On that basis, there should be 2 halves, I think, not one.
So what we're saying is if the game finishes after white moves (by checkmate or otherwise) then it will only count for half a move, as black has not completed that move?

Look at the stats from Cato above.
The 16,449 should be the sum of 7,560 + 8,889, so why 8,888.5?
I think it just rounds up, either when the number gets that large or just because it's the total moves.
Maybe offering a draw when it is accepted counts as half a move?
Thats why I posted my first post (#3) because I've only had one draw and the average has a .5 in it...
Often a "move" in chess is two plies, white takes a turn/black takes a turn. So I don't think the .5 has anything to do with drawing, winning, or losing the game.
Why the total line didn't add the fraction, I have no idea--must just round up.
