I think if you got Natalia Pogonina to help you with this, it would be an interesting project.
Does using an online translator, cause the poem to lose its' beauty?
Good Luck, I hope to read it soon!

Online translations can be useful for gists and humor. I'm glad we have them, but I wouldn't trust the fate of the world... or my dinner... to an online translator.
Heh, at least the first 5 posts weren't people running to google translate because they didn't bother to read your post.
...
I guess there's still time :)

It's very difficult to duplicate all the nuances of one language when you translate it to another.
The (our) heroes crossed the Balkans!
Some of you may have noticed an earlier request for a tranlation on an obituary of Max Harmonist from the original German. I now have an oddly connected translation I need, only this time of a Russian poem. I don't need a Google translation since I have several machine translations, but rather one by someone fluent in both Russian and English.
This poem was written by Ilya Shumov, the great Russina player/probleminst of the 19th century:
Герои перешли Балканы!
Ужасный путь их не был скор:
Мороз и турки и бураны –
Все вражьи силы грозных гор,
Соединясь в преграды злые,
Стремились тщетно восемь дней
Расстроить силы удалые,
Остановить богатырей.
Побеждена сама природа!
А дальше все возьмет булат!
Но здесь мы до восьмого хода
Дойдем легко, и черным - мат.
I will greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to give their input.
