I need help.....

hundreds of pounds on chess sets, boards and books. Subscribed to chess.com, chessable, aimchess.

Yet, my playing is beginner/basic (if I'm kind & generous).

And I am only 3 weeks in.

so,  I need to reset the approach ( the goal being to play reasonably quality enjoyable chess, no delusions of grandeur )

does the plan work? :

- loose the subs to chessable/aimchess

- drop chess.com to gold

- finish one book ( bobby fisher )

- pick one opening book as next, and shelve the rest ( MCO / FCO / discover openings )

- focus learning on openings/attack/defence

- play 

- analyse the playing to reduce the blunders/errors etc.

- patience

LOL. im going to be broke long before they make everyone a grandmaster first

Tactics are most important! Lay strong tactical grounds and your rating will grow!

also, watching chess YouTube and stuff like that will also have a positive effect on you

Don't hang pieces and your rating as a beginner should jump 500 points. Ok how. Double check all your moves. Make move in your head first then ask yourself are you giving the opponent any unnecessary forks, pins, skewers, double attacks, mating attacks and also am I hanging any pieces or pawns. Yes at first this is cumbersome but as you improve can shorten your procedure to double check. Looked at that last game against Olive bot. You hung 3 pieces, your queen and several pawns. Give this a try should help.

The plan works, there are many beginners course that can helpful to you. But there is a place for practice in chess. play games, analyse them and learn from your mistakes.
