Well, haven't you explained before that it's in your DNA?
I simply can't.
I think you have to have a brain that is mathematically inclined if you want to be good at calculating. Is it not true that people who are good at mathematics are better at chess?

Anybody should be better than this. Besides, you claim to disagree, but you haven't offered another explanation.
Concentration, concentration, concentration !!! Check pictures of, IE, Fischer & Kasparov in a super-concentrated mode playing OTB. It's something awesome. Their brains are super calculating. Put the pictures on your wall.
Oh, please.
I don't think being being good at math would make you a great chess player. Just by doing lessons over again and looking at answers I have begun to see things I have never seen before. You need to learn the patterns and how to recognize them!
Then just hang in there, and your calculation should improve.
I've hung in forever.
Maybe it's time for a new hobby. Paint by numbers is fun but not as easy as it sounds.
I know. I've tried it.
Hey Planet. You play a lot Online games which I guess it means you take enough time to think on your moves, and your opponent's for that matter, plus you don't play much quicker games which in general chess knowledgeable people say to deteriorate your play thus it looks like that as far as playing the right time control for now you are doing right. Why don't you take on a chess book and make it personal? You and the book, the book and you, after done with the book and integrate some key concepts into your play it will push up your ratting for sure. Cheers.
You make it sound pretty bad. You can't visualize moves at all? Or when you get a few moves into it the position gets fuzzy and disappears or what?

fuzzy? really? That never happened to me.
Well "fuzzy" isn't a very good descriptive word. What I mean is you remember were some of the pieces are but some squares you're not sure if they're empty or not and some pieces you're not sure where they are.

That kind of fuzzy! It does happens to me but my blindfold play is helping a lot in correcting it.

I can't calculate at all. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just fate?
